Central Switzerland's Snow Sports Areas Start The Winter Season With Confidence

Representatives of the central Swiss snow sports areas presented the new products for the winter season in the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne.
Despite a challenging last winter season and pandemic-related uncertainties, the snow sports areas in central Switzerland are starting the winter with confidence. The industry agrees that, especially in times of pandemics, it offers great added value for people and enables healthy exercise in the great outdoors. The experiences from last winter have been incorporated into the protective measures for the coming season and have been coordinated in close cooperation with the national authorities. The areas are also waiting for you with various news and exciting offers this winter.
At the beginning of the media conference, the President of the Central Switzerland Transport Company (TUZ), Sepp Odermatt, addressed the media. He emphasized the challenging situation that the mountain railways and tourist transporters are currently exposed to. After the very successful years 2018 and 2019, under the influence of the pandemic, there was a marked slump in 2020, which is reported with a third less passenger traffic income (-100 million CHF compared to 2019). In the short and medium term, this decline will have an impact on the investment and innovation capacity of tourist transport companies. He praises the member companies for their perseverance and willingness to cooperate. The same protective measures apply to the ski areas as to public transport: A mask is required in cabins and closed rooms. The certificate requirement also applies to catering in the ski areas, with the exception of the terraces. If the pandemic situation changes, the situation will be reassessed.
