Canton Of Bern Issues Loan For The Renovation Of Gstaad Schonried-Hornegli Lift System

The government council of the canton of Bern has approved a commitment for the granting of an investment loan in the amount of 5 million francs and for the liability for a federal loan in the amount of 2.5 million francs to Bergbahnen Destination Gstaad AG (BDG AG). The loans will support the construction of a combined gondola/chairlift to replace the existing Schönried-Horneggli chairlift. BDG AG is of great economic importance for the Saanenland – a region with a high level of tourism dependence. BDG AG employs 350 people in winter and 150 in summer and is one of the largest employers in the region in the winter season. This justifies support with an interest-free, repayable loan as part of the New Regional Policy.
