Bundesliga Legends Tournament In The Kitzbuhel Alps
It's a very special gathering that has never happened in this form before: on Saturday, September 14, 1919, the "who's who" of the German football league meets in Westendorf for a friendly autumn tournament. More specifically, deserving, former "heroes" of German professional football meet to compete against each other. As a partner region of Borussia Dortmund, the Brixental from the Kitzbühel Alps made the invitation. This was followed by the notable registrations of Borussia Dortmund, 1. FC Nuremberg and the team of SpVgg Unterhaching. The participant field is complemented by a selection of Tyrolean tourism, which of course also includes the Austrian stars, such as Michael Bauer or Andi Hölzl should not be missing.
Borussia Dortmund brings players such as Jörg Heinrich, Frank Mill, Antonio da Silva or David Odonkor on the lawn. Among the Nuremberg run no smaller than Ex Nuremberg captain Andy Wolf, Thomas Ziemer, Dieter Eckstein or Paolo Rizzo on. And the SpVgg Unterhaching shines with even three former internationals Goran Sukalo, Altin Rrakli and Stefan Lexa, who played several times for Austria
Starting at 10:30 am, the matches in the Waldstadion Westendorf start with the game 1. FC Nürnberg against Team Tirol Tourismus. Two times 20 minutes kick the teams in knockout mode. Borussia Dortmund and SpVgg Unterhaching play the second round of the preliminary round against each other. The grand finale of the 1st Bundesliga Legend Cup in the Kitzbüheler Alpen starts at 14:30. Admission is free
The idea for this unique tournament originated in the Kitzbühel Alps. Several times spent "BVB Altstars" their holiday in the resorts Brixen im Thale, Kirchberg or Westendorf. Only last weekend, Roman Weidenfeller, Patrick Owomoyela and Norbert Dickel gave the honor to go to a charity golf tournament in Westendorf at the start. So it was obvious to use the good contacts to actually implement this very special tournament. Incidentally, the tournament is organized by none other than the chief organizer of the Cordial Cup, Hans Grübler.
