Boyne Mountain Resort Relies On Transportation Solutions With Blue Design Galleries From Sunkid
“Located in Boyne Falls, Michigan (USA), Boyne Mountain is the ultimate playground for all seasons.” Here, winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy 415 acres (almost 1.7 square kilometers) of skiable terrain.
Celebrating its 75th anniversary, Boyne Mountain Resort kicked off this very special winter season with several lift premieres. Two of the new facilities, with a special focus on families and children, are Moving Carpets, planned and realized with Sunkid’s North American subsidiary, Star Lifts. The gallery roofs with blue polycarbonate panes are a particular eye-catcher.
Chris Adams (Director of Mountain Experience, Boyne Mountain) expresses satisfaction: “Our experience with our new Sunkid covered carpet has been great. The families see the carpet from far away and they cannot wait to try it out. Once on the carpet, the enjoyment continues.”
“We installed two of the covered carpets this season”, Adams continues. “One at the beginner area and one for the (5-lane) tubing park. The tubing park manager and team have fallen in love with the lift for the tubing traffic. It has created an enjoyable and memorable experience for our tubing visitors. Historically, traveling to the top was just a means to get back to the top. Now it is part of the experience, and people leave talking about how amazing the tubing was and how cool the carpet is.”
Like the slightly shorter 400-foot “Estelle’s Way” (120 meters) at the beginner area for skiers and boarders, the 520-foot-long facility (159 meters) for tubing guests is covered by a Evolus M gallery with blue polycarbonate panels along its entire length. Including roofing of both the entrance and exit areas, as well as swing doors, which prevent snow and ice from building up on the conveyor belt and other components during the night.
On “Estelle’s Way”, Sunkid’s Blue Eye belt surface (width: 750 mm) guarantees the best possible non-slip stance for shredders of all ages, and ideal drainage of melting water at the same time. With the 750 mm wide Rufftop belt, Sunkid and Star Lifts provided Boyne Mountain with the perfect match for their tubing carpet, especially, when it comes to optimal capacity and cost efficiency.
Chris Adams summarizes: “The enjoyment of families has been amazing to see and has certainly helped in cementing the love of Snowsports of all users.”
