Bourg Saint Maurice-Les Arcs Sets Up For Summer Biking

This summer the French Alpine resort of Bourg Saint Maurice-Les Arcs will confirm its status as a paradise for both road cyclists and mountain bikers alike, as it welcomes three world-class road cycling races including the Tour de France, and offers some of the best and most varied mountain biking in the Alps.

  • La Fete du Tour - Saturday 2 June – THIS WEEKEND – To celebrate the Tour de France coming to town this summer, Bourg Saint Maurice is organising the Fete du Tour. This Saturday will see amateur bikers tackle part of the Tour de France route, climbing the steep roads from the town towards La Rosiere-Espace San Bernardo. After sampling the route of the pros, the afternoon sees a family ride around the town, a baby course for small children, as well bike demos, a fun quiz and local cuisine on offer.
  • Criterium du Dauphine - Sunday 10 June – the unofficial warm up for the Tour de France, the Criterium du Dauphine will be passing through Bourg Saint Maurice on 10 June as it comes from Albertville towards La Rosiere – Espace San Bernardo. Watch some of the world’s best cyclists ahead of a big summer of cycling.

  • Tour de France 2018 – Wednesday 18 & Thursday 19 July – For it’s 105th edition, the Tour de France will come to Bourg Saint Maurice not once but TWICE this summer for the 11th and 12th stages. On Wednesday 18 July the world famous race will pass through Bourg Saint Maurice on its way from Albertville to La Rosiere Espace San Bernando. Then the following day Bourg Saint Maurice will transform into the departure town as the peloton head towards the climb to Alpe d’Huez. Both stages will be decisive in the battle for the yellow jersey.

  • Tour de L’Avenir - Saturday 25 August – the ‘Tour of the Future’ is a bike race that brings together the best under 23-year old riders in Europe, or indeed the world. In its 55th edition, the race will pass through Bourg Saint Maurice on August 25 as the race goes from Seez to Val d’Isere.

E-Mountain Biking – NEW – new for summer 2018 are three trails which are accessible to E-mountain bikes – the two cross country circuits and ‘route 66’, meaning 50km of terrain open to E-bikers.

L’Arcadienne mountain bike race – a fun downhill race taking place on 14 & 15 July. As well as the diverse course of woods, rocks and clear slopes being open to adults, there is also a simplified kids version for under 13s so that everyone can enjoy the thrill of a first competition.

Lift passes - For mountain bikers, daily lift passes are 20 euro for adults and 16 euro for under 16s. During the Pre- Opening Weekend daily lift passes are 15 euro for all.
