Bogus Basin School Race Program Registration Now Open To All Middle And High School Age Students

Winter 2021/22 marks the 63rd year that Bogus Basin hosts the friendly and fun competitions

Bogus Basin School Race Program officials are conducting outreach efforts to spread the word to Treasure Valley middle and high school age students that the popular School Race Program is up and running again for its 63rd year. Registration for the program, disrupted last year by COVID-19, is uncharacteristically down, compelling race coordinators to reach out to the community to build awareness and encourage registration. 

Since the 1960’s, Bogus Basin’s School Race Program has provided an accessible, affordable introduction to low-key ski and snowboarding competitions for local kids through their schools. Teachers and other school employees volunteer their time, helping facilitate race day activities. Prior to COVID-19, the program drew nearly 1,700 participants, and long-time race coordinator John Foley predicts it will meet and exceed that number again in the near future. “Any middle or high school age student in the Treasure Valley is welcome to participate, and we want everyone who is eligible to know that the program is available to them so they can join in the fun,” said Foley. 

The first of six (6) Saturday race days at the non-profit recreation area is set for January 8th,  2022. To participate in all six race days, students must meet the initial registration deadline. Students who participate in three or more races will be eligible to compete in the annual Dotty Clark Memorial Races on February 17th and 18th.
