Blue Tomato Opens First Shop In Sweden

The international board sports and lifestyle specialist Blue Tomato (blue-tomato.com) is opening its first shop in Sweden.

The Austrian company will move into a 260 square meter store at Vallgatan 34 in Gothenburg’s old town on Thursday, August 11th. With over 750 employees and more than 450,000 products, Blue Tomato is one of the world’s largest online retailers in the snowboard, freeski, surf, skateboard and street style sectors. In recent years, the presence in the stationary trade has also been greatly expanded. Blue Tomato already operates 70 shops in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Norway and Finland. Blue Tomato was founded in 1988 by former Austrian snowboard champion Gerfried Schuller.

“After the shop openings in Finland in 2019 and Norway in 2021, Sweden is the next important step in the Nordics for us,” explains Hanna Joie, Head of Retail Expansion at Blue Tomato. “We look forward to further expanding our customer base and to being able to advise you directly in the new shop. Gothenburg is a fascinating young city where we immediately rediscovered the lifestyle that we also live as a company. When there was also a location in a top location on the market, we took the opportunity – and now we are about to move in.”

Omnichannel retailer with a special service

The blue-tomato.com site registers up to 125,000 visitors a day – and the trend is rising. The web shop has long been available in 14 languages. You can also order via smartphone, via live chat with the international Blue Tomato Customer Service, or directly in a shop if the product is not in stock locally. Special service of the omnichannel retailer: Customers can optionally have their online order delivered to one of the Blue Tomato shops free of charge and pick it up there. If an item does not fit, the order will be exchanged immediately in the shop.

Philippa Andersson, shop manager in the new store, which is very centrally located near Gothenburg Cathedral, and her four employees are delighted with the opening: “The new shop is something very special, because there is no comparable retailer in Sweden . We will be a great destination for boardsports and fashion enthusiasts in Gothenburg with our unique, authentic vibe.
