Blue Tomato 'Founders Day' Held In Schladming

Schladming became the center of the board sports scene for one day. Numerous founders of well-known international brands were guests at Blue Tomato's first “Founders Day” (September 12, 2023, Schladming)

The tranquil town of Schladming in Ennstal, Styria recently became the center of the global board sports scene. The international board sports and lifestyle specialist Blue Tomato ( blue-tomato.com ) invited numerous founders of well-known manufacturer brands from the snowboard, freeski, surf, skateboard and street style sectors to Austria as part of its first “Founders Day”.

There were such prominent names as Henry and Cédric Nidecker as well as Tom Wilson-North from the Nidecker Group in Switzerland, Jürgen and Julian Wolf from the streetwear label Homeboy, Hermann Kapferer, former general manager at Burton Europe, Christian Bisgaard from Fat Moose, Ben Klaassen from REELL, Joe Windemuth from Coal, Mike West from 686 and Tommy Delago from Nitro. “With Founders Day we want to create a regular event to strengthen the connection between the brands and also with our teams,” explained Adam Ellis, Managing Director of Blue Tomato.

“We want to offer an opportunity to spend time together in a relaxed manner and to build lasting connections, away from strenuous trade fairs and festivals. We are very pleased that so many big names in the scene have accepted our invitation.” Blue Tomato founder Gerfried Schuller was also there.

Of course, the founder of Blue Tomato was also there: Gerfried Schuller, former Austrian European snowboard champion, started the company 35 years ago in the classic way in a garage in Schladming.

After a “get together” in the Blue Tomato shop in Schladming, we went to the trendy Schladming restaurant Julius for a chilled dinner. The following day there were various activities on the program. The first Founders Day came to a casual end with an awards show for Blue Tomato employees and a subsequent afterparty at Congress Schladming.

With almost 850 employees and more than 450,000 products, Blue Tomato is one of the world's largest online retailers in the snowboard, freeski, surf, skateboard and street style sectors.

In recent years, the presence in stationary retail has also been significantly expanded. Blue Tomato already operates more than 80 shops in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Italy and Finland.
