Blizzard-Tecnica Appoints Ultra Sport As New Distributor For UK & Ireland

Ultra Sport EU have been appointed exclusive distributors for the Blizzard-Tecnica brands with immediate effect.

Gordon Way, MD of Ultra Sport EU, was delighted with the appointment “We have been looking to get back into skiing for some years now. Whilst our overall wintersports offering is really strong, and we undertake business with most UK retailers, ski hardware was noticeably missing but we had to wait for the right brand. With Blizzard-Tecnica we have found a gem and are looking forward to emulating the amazing success that both brands have around the world and particularly in the USA where they are both top 3 brands.”

Italian history, skill and know-how is applied to Tecnica ski boots and outdoor footwear whilst Austrian ski design, technology and manufacturing is naturally applied to the Blizzard skis – still manufactured in Austria.

Talking of the move Stefano Faccin, Export Area Manager for Blizzard-Tecnica, commented: “We are really happy to have found safe hands for our key brands and are confident that we can now offer retailers a significantly improved service - especially following the Brexit changes. Gordon and his team have a great operation and retailers really should benefit from this move. It is also fundamental for us to combine the Hardware and the Footwear distribution together as a single brand. Tecnica Footwear is experiencing real momentum in all key markets and we are very excited that, together with Ultra Sport EU, we will establish Tecnica as a key footwear brand in the UK.”

Since 1960 Tecnica have been manufacturing boots and, having purchased Blizzard in 2006, their combined wintersports expertise has seen both brands go from strength to strength. “We know the UK tends to emulate what is happening in the USA” continued Faccin “If the UK follows this market leading trend for Blizzard-Tecnica then we should see both brands consolidate and significantly grow their market share.” 

Way had further thoughts on the appointment: “We’re back into ski hardware with really well-respected brands giving us a solid all-round portfolio of products. Tecnica also provides us with our first real step into the outdoor footwear market.”
