Black Crows To Premiere Film At Banff Film Festival
Black Crows in collaboration with Reel Water Productions just dropped the official trailer to The Fortress Ghosts in anticipation of the world premier and inaugural Black Crows feature in Banff Film Festival, November 6, 2021. This second installment of “The Ghost Resorts” series doesn’t disappoint.
Directed by Bryan Smith and Cameron Sylvester, The Fortress Ghosts highlights the once vibrant Fortress Mountain Resort that closed in 2004. Two decades later, the far side chair, frontside chair and day lodge remain standing and while the guests have disappeared, the legendary resort still remains.
The film follows Black Crows athletes, Mark Abma and Callum Pettie as they explore the past and ponder the future of this once iconic Alberta destination that closed in April 2004.
Director’s Statement: “When a resort closes its doors for good, it isn’t long before the elements take hold. Most ‘ghost resorts’ older than a few years have deteriorated, irreparably. Much of the original infrastructure at Fortress Mountain is gone. As such, the stories and memories created there, are what remains. Every individual who spent time at Fortress has a unique story to tell.Learning to ski, meeting a life partner, or participating in the legendary staff parties are just a few of the fleeting memories that risk being forgotten forever. Making this film was a privilege, not only to document the texture of this wild environment, but to hear just a few of the incredible stories made at this mountain. The purpose of this film is to celebrate these memories and preserve them, while sharing some of the beautiful terrain that remains the same as the day the resort opened, in 1967.”- Bryan Smith and Cameron Sylvester.
The full feature film will be available globally on January 11, 2022 on all Black Crows channels.
