Big Sky - Progress On Swift Current 6 Chair Construction
This summer, Doppelmayr and Big Sky Mountain Operations are getting a head start on construction for the new Swift Current 6 chairlift.
Although Covid delayed the construction of Swift Current 6 to summer 2021, the resort is getting ahead of a tight construction cycle. Teams are beginning foundation work to set the stage for a full lift replacement during summer 2021.
The existing Swift Current chairlift will continue to run during the upcoming winter season. For those who did not get a chance to say goodbye to the Swifty quad last season, there will be a chance to do so this winter.
The new Swift Current 6 chairlift will debut for the 2021-22 ski season with state-of-the-art technology from Doppelmayr, and become the fastest six-person chairlift in North America.
- Six-person, high-speed chairlift
- Weatherproof Big Sky Blue Bubble and ultra-wide heated seats
- Over 25% increase in uphill capacity, consistently transporting 3,000 skiers per hour
Welcoming Swift Current 6 will be the resort’s next step in creating the most technologically-advanced lift network in North America, a key pillar of the Big Sky 2025 vision.
Big Sky 2025 is an ambitious 10-year capital plan aimed at transforming the small town of Big Sky and its big mountain ski terrain into a world-class, year-round mountain destination.
