Bergbahnen Dreilandereck – The Future Is Secured - Locals To Take Over 100 Percent Of The Lifts

In summer 2025, the Dreiländereck mountain railways in the Villach - Faaker See - Ossiacher See region will resume summer operations. The start of the winter season is planned for before Christmas 2025. Locals will take over 100 percent of the mountain railways.

"I am proud and overjoyed that after a long effort, the future of the border triangle as a year-round adventure mountain has been secured," says Arnoldstein's mayor, Reinhard Antolitsch. "We have succeeded in developing the best possible solution for our border triangle," emphasizes Antolitsch, who also thanks the Villach - Faaker See - Ossiacher See tourism region for its intensive cooperation.

"The tri-border region - centrally located and easily accessible by transport - will once again fulfil its important function as a local ski supplier in the future," says Reinhard Antolitsch, citing an important function of the tri-border region.

Essential pillar of the tourism offer

"The tri-border region is an important pillar of our region's tourism offering. In summer, it is a family adventure mountain with supra-regional appeal in a unique location at the intersection of three countries, three languages and three cultures (Germanic, Romance and Slavic). And in winter, for holidaymakers, it is the perfect alternative to the large ski areas," says Georg Overs, describing the year-round tourist relevance of the tri-border region. Overs is the managing director of the Villach - Faaker See - Ossiacher See tourism region, in which the market town of Arnoldstein is also located.

Bergbahnen Dreiländereck - solidly and carefully equipped with capital

"We are providing the new Dreiländereck mountain railways, which are currently being established, with solid but cautious capital," emphasizes Dr. Erhard Juritsch, one of the shareholders of the new company. "We have drawn up an investment program for the next five years that is intended to increase the attractiveness of the Dreiländereck region season after season," reveals the recognized economic expert. "In addition, we are working together with the municipality of Arnoldstein and the transport association on CO2-free travel by public transport," explains Juritsch.

Andreas Blüm - Managing Director of the new Dreiländereck mountain railways

"Living in Faak am See, I learned to ski at the Dreiländereck when I was 5 years old. That creates a bond that lasts forever. It's only logical that we have been working intensively since the middle of last year on the promising solution that we now have, in which all regional players - the municipality, the tourist region, the agricultural community, etc. - are involved to this day," explains Andreas Blüm, the new managing director and majority owner of the Dreiländereck mountain railways.

Clarity - Start of intensive preparations for summer and winter

"We have already explored and planned a lot. Now that we have clarity, we are starting with the extensive preparations for the coming summer season as well as the next winter season," says Andreas Blüm, delighted to be able to officially get started.

summer season starts in early July 2025

Due to the extensive preparatory work, the 2025 summer season is expected to start at the beginning of July. The aim is to create the first new mountain adventure attractions as early as 2025. An earlier start to the summer season is planned from 2026.

Winter season start 2025/26 - before Christmas

"We know from our own observations that the temperatures on the mountain and on the north side, especially near the valley, make very good skiing possible between Christmas and March. Creating all the conditions for this is one of our priorities. This will make the tri-border region an attractive local ski destination again. Holiday guests will also find pure skiing idyll here," says Blüm, describing the tri-border region's winter orientation.
