Beat Feuz To Retire On Saturday, January 21st

Beat Feuz has decided to retire from ski racing soon.

“Pushing your limits and taking risks have been my passion in ski racing for years. My feeling was often the key to success. But now my feeling tells me that the physical limits have been reached », says the 35-year-old from Bern.

However, the speed specialist will continue racing this season up to and including the races in Kitzbühel: «After 16 years in the World Cup, I will end my active career as a racer on Saturday, January 21st. I'm looking forward to being able to enjoy my favorite races in Wengen and Kitzbühel again."

Beat Feuz, who was mainly active in the speed disciplines, won three medals each at the Olympic Games and at the World Championships in his career. He won his last major title last winter at the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing when he won the gold medal in the downhill.

Beat Feuz (German pronunciation born 11 February 1987) is a Swiss World Cup alpine ski racer, specializing in the speed events of downhill and super-G. He is 2017 World champion and 2022 Olympic champion in downhill. In 2021, he won consecutive downhills on the famed Streif at Kitzbühel.

"I'm incredibly grateful that I've been able to pursue my passion for so long and I'm now looking forward to more time with my family and I'm excited about the new challenges that will come into my life," says Beat Feuz.
