Badrutt’s Palace Hotel Continues To Pioneer Hotel Technology, Becoming The First Luxury Hotel In Europe To Implement 5G Connection
Badrutt’s Palace Hotel and the Badrutt Family have long been recognized as innovators in the hotel industry. In 1879, Johannes Badrutt implemented the first electric light in Switzerland, illuminating the restaurant of his hotel. Continuing this pioneering spirit, Badrutt’s Palace has this month become the first luxury hotel in Europe to install 5G, in partnership with Swisscom, offering a faster and more reliable network to guests.
By increasing speed, diminishing response time and elevating the capacity of transferring data, hotel guests can enjoy improved connectivity throughout the property. As expressed by Managing Director of the hotel, Richard Leuenberger: “We have to plan now for a future defined by ubiquitous access to high-speed data anywhere. It will still take some time until most devices are able to support 5G but we wanted to be ready and use this service as another differentiator before the 5G technology becomes a standard.”
In the present digital climate, people send and receive the same amount of data in half a day as they would have consumed in a week five years ago. 5G technology enables guests to use multiple devices with the quickest and most reliable connection possible, providing virtually delay-free communication. “The 5G installation at Badrutt’s Palace Hotel is the first one inside a luxury hotel in Europe and it is just the beginning to digitally expand the incomparable service of the hotel”, says Friederike Hoffmann, Head of Mobile Solutions at Swisscom.
Badrutt’s Palace has also partnered with Huber+Suhner, a leading global electrical and optical connectivity company, to enhance the fibre optic network throughout the hotel. This includes fibre connectivity in all rooms and suites and enhanced performance of Wi-Fi connectivity.
