Austria's Michael Huber Elected To FIS Board

Austria's Michael Huber has been elected to the FIS Board. The Tyrolean succeeds Patrick Ortlieb and will in future represent the interests of the Austrian Ski Association in the International Ski and Snowboard Federation.

Huber, President of the Kitzbühel Ski Club for 15 years, succeeds Patrick Ortlieb from Vorarlberg on the FIS Board, who has held this important position since 2022.

At the 55th Congress of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation/FIS in Reykjavik, Dr. Michael Huber received 115 (out of 128 possible) votes and, with the fifth-best result, confidently made it onto the 18-member FIS Board.

"I am proud to have been in the top 5 in this board election straight away. This is a great appreciation of me, my professional work and the Austrian Ski Association. It is important to me to be a connecting element between the interests of the national associations and the FIS and to act diplomatically here. I am an advocate of democratic decision-making and always see sport as the top priority. With my specific experience in organizing winter sports events, I also want to help adapt the structures and regulations of the FIS to modern needs," said the new FIS board member Michael Huber .

Already on Tuesday, at the congress in Iceland, the 2029 FIS Alpine Ski World Championships were awarded to Narvik (NOR). In 2031, the alpine medal decisions will take place in Val Gardena (ITA). The 2029 FIS Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski World Championships were awarded to Zhangjiakou (CHN). The Alpine Paraski World Championships will be held in Tignes (FRA) in 2027 and the FIS Ski Flying World Championships in 2028 in Planica (SLO).
