Austrian Olympic Committee & Doppelmayr Extend partnership
The Austrian Olympic Committee and Doppelmayr announced at the trade fair for Alpine technologies in Innsbruck that the top partnership, which had existed since 2013, would be extended to 2026. The mainspring of the successful cooperation are and will remain the Olympic values of top performance, respect and friendship. Until the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, the top partnership between the ÖOC and the world market leader in the field of cable car construction will be further expanded.
"Olympia is a very special stage"
“The Austrian Olympic Committee and Doppelmayr are linked by a long and successful partnership. We share the enthusiasm for the sport and for surpassing oneself with top performances. Just as our athletes ambitiously improve and refine their competition technique, we also work consistently to optimize our products. So that our customers get the best. The Olympics is a very special international stage - with the top partnership we are pooling our strengths for exactly that. We are already looking forward to Paris 2024 and Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo 2026 and further cooperation with the ÖOC," explains Thomas Pichler, Managing Director of Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH.
“I am very pleased about the extension of our partnership with Doppelmayr. We have set many milestones over the past ten years, which are always based on trust, reliability and the connection between top-class sport and top-class technology. What also connects us is the claim to be number 1 and to keep setting new standards – in sport and beyond. We managed to do that with this contract extension," says ÖOC Secretary General Peter Mennel.
Comprehensive Activations
In addition to national activation with the ÖOC, Doppelmayr also has a long history with the Olympia brand and has repeatedly represented Austrian winter sports expertise on the largest sports stage in the world. The joint success story began in 2012 with an Austria House sponsorship in London, where a Doppelmayr armchair on the terrace went from being a popular photo motif to a hit with the public. A year later, the next joint step followed in the form of a top partnership, which since then has been characterized not only by outstanding success and emotional highlights, but also by extensive activations, events and innovations.
Numerous cable car systems from Wolfurt have already transported Olympic athletes - from Vancouver to London and Sochi to Pyeongchang. At the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, 14 Doppelmayr ropeways were part of the Olympic infrastructure. During the games, a Doppelmayr delegation got an idea of the facilities used in the Olympics and the successes of Olympic Team Austria.
Gasser and Ortlieb convinced
The name Anna Gasser is inextricably linked to Olympic great moments. The freestyle snowboarder flew to Big Air Gold twice, in 2018 in Pyeongchang and four years later in Beijing. The most beautiful mountain experiences for the people of Carinthia usually start with a cable car ride. "Mountain mobility is very important to me, whether I'm in the park or freeriding. Cable cars are fast and environmentally friendly, which makes life on the mountain a lot easier - and because comfort is a top priority at Doppelmayr, it's a lot more pleasant," says Gasser, who is tackling the gold hat-trick in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo would like. “Nothing is set in stone yet, things can happen quickly in sport. I prefer to plan from season to season, but what I can say: I still feel like learning new things, to develop myself and my sport. When I think of 2026, I get itchy. Olympic Games on the doorstep in Italy are unique.”
For Nina Ortlieb, the Olympic dream has not yet come true due to numerous injuries, but the Vorarlberg native was born with Olympic enthusiasm. Papa Patrick Ortlieb was downhill Olympic champion in Albertville in 1992, the 2023 World Championships silver medalist in Courchevel and two-time World Cup winner would like to compete for an Olympic medal in Cortina in 2026. “I have never lost sight of the goal of the Winter Olympics, the Olympics are the greatest. And when the games take place in front of the front door, that's all the nicer.” She has a special relationship with cable cars: “Even as a child I rode the gondola to school. I'm now on the ski slopes of this world, no matter where you go: you can see Doppelmayr systems everywhere.
