Atomic Wins Ski Magazine Gear Of The Year Award For New Backland Carbon Boot
Atomic’s new backcountry ski touring boot, the Backland Carbon, has received the prestigious SKI Magazine Gear of the Year award for the 2020 winter season.
“Every brand came out swinging this year with technological innovations, Best in Test honors, and perfectly refined products that deserve every skier's attention,” said SKI Magazine’s Jon Jay. “Earning our discerning tester's praise to be, Atomic’s Backland Carbon doesn’t skimp on downhill performance like so many others in the superlight category,” said Jay.
Constructed with Atomic’s revolutionary ProLite® technology which eliminates the need for bulky construction, the new Backland Carbon trims weight from its predecessor while increasing the boots abilities to transfer more power to the ski edges with its reimagined tongue. The boot offers a supremely comfortable first fit that is further customizable with the Memory Fit 3D liner, the durable, breathable liner provides for the perfect foot climate in warm and cold conditions.
“Featuring a Boa Fit System on the lower shell and a single metal buckle on the upper with a modified power strap, this boot has a true 110 flex and was able to handle skis over 100mm underfoot with ease,” said one SKI Magazine tester.
“Add in crampon-friendly front toe bights and machine-washable liners to fight funky smells, and this boot is the new standard for superlight ski touring and ski mountaineering,” said another.
“We are extremely honored to receive this highly sought-after award from one of the industry’s most respected publications,” said Sean Kennedy, Atomic Marketing Manager for the Americas. “Receiving this best-of-the-best recognition from SKI Magazine is further proof that Atomic continues to develop exceptional products that advance the skiing experience for all skiers.”
Atomic is one of only five brands to receive the 2020 SKI Magazine Gear of the Year Award, granted annually to products that are rigorously tested by the SKI Magazine editors. The distinction is based on top design and performance in a variety of conditions. The complete list of SKI Magazine Gear of the Year Award winners will be announced in the magazine’s Buyer’s Guide, hitting newsstands on September 24, 2019.
