Apex2100 International Ski Academy Becomes The First FIS Development Programme Academy Partner
FIS and the Apex2100 International Ski Academy are pleased to announce that Apex2100 is the first official “FIS Development Programme Academy Partner”. Located in Tignes (FRA), Apex2100 will work with FIS to provide high level facilities and programmes to support the FIS Development Programme and its member National Ski Associations.
As the Academy Partner, Apex2100 will support existing programmes such as the FIS Development Training Camps with at least one camp provided per year, as well as a Coaches Seminar at its facilities in Tignes (FRA), which also offers on-snow skiing and snowboarding most of the year. Additionally interested FIS National Ski Associations will be able to benefit from Apex2100’s unique Performance Training programmes.
A key element of the partnership to benefit the FIS Development Programme member National Ski Associations is a scholarship for one female and one male athlete to attend the Apex2100 Academy.
Sarah Lewis, FIS Secretary General of FIS, said: “Apex2100 shares the vision of FIS to develop winter sports globally. The FIS Development Programme has steadily developed over 20 years, with more member National Ski Associations progressing their activities in order to produce athletes who reach qualification standards for major events. Apex2100 is warmly welcomed to support activities within the FIS Development Programme and provide the National Ski Associations with high level facilities and programmes.”
Sir Clive Woodward, Director of Sport Apex2100, added, “We are delighted to partner with FIS to support the FIS Development Programme and the National Ski Associations who share our ambition to provide young athletes from across the world with the very best training, performance and education programmes. We are excited about welcoming our first athletes from the FIS member associations.”
The partnership between FIS and Apex2100 is an innovative way to continue the development work for athletes in winter sports. Both organisations look forward to a fruitful collaboration.
