Antelope Butte To Open December 20th.
The team is to welcome you back to Antelope Butte in a few short weeks. They're anticipating a fantastic 2019-20 season, and can't wait to show you what staff, volunteers and contractors have been up to!
In addition to readying the yurt and completing work on the lower level of the lodge, they've been training instructors and ski patrol, developing a new youth program, and stocking the rental shop with new gear. Opening Day is December 20th.
"The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry." This saying hit home when I recently took a bad turn and tore my ACL and meniscus. An injury and surgery certainly weren't in my plans for the start of this season, but the silver lining has been some time to slow down and reflect on everything that has happened this year.
A few 2019 highlights: they opened the Summit Lift, built a yurt, hosted numerous school programs, sponsored Sheridan's popular skijoring event, received our official USFS 5-year use permit, welcomed hundreds of people of all ages at BrewFest and the Summer Festival, installed a 35,000-pound propane tank, raised the canopy on the SunKid conveyor lift, and made tremendous progress on the lodge.
None of these accomplishments would have been possible without the support, encouragement and generosity of many volunteers, donors and corporate sponsors. They are grateful for each of them, and look forward to doing more amazing things together in 2020.
