Alto.Ski Launches 'Oyster Card' For Skiers
UK based tech start-up, Alto.Ski has today announced the launch of a NEW app allowing skiers to have a unique ski pass that can be used at multiple resorts, and skip the ticket office queues and avoid paying for lift passes in advance.
Deemed as the 'Oyster card for skiing,' users can use the app to order a pass straight to their door or can pick it up from their resort or partner hotel.
Because of its unique pay-as-you-go payment method, skiers will only pay for the time they spend on the slopes - ideal for if the weather turns or a last minute lie in, skiers aren’t wasting money as they would with a traditional pass.
Due to launch in time for this year’s season in November 2021, the new one stop app will allow customers to directly set up a smart pass for themselves and members of their family or party, and because of its unique pay-as-you-go payment method, skiers will only pay for the time they spend on the slopes. So, if the weather comes in or you decide to stop longer for lunch, skiers aren’t wasting money as they would with a traditional pass.
In addition to ski passes, Alto.Ski also allows its customers to accommodate, ski school, ski and snowboard hire in advance, so it’s ready to collect on arrival, as well as manage their insurance, taking away all the usual stresses associated with their holiday.
The app will initially roll out across 13 resorts in Italy this 2021/22 season, with plans to expand further into Europe in the coming months and global destinations in 2022.
Ana Davis, CEO at Alto.Ski said: “A winter ski holiday has always been associated not only with glorious slopes and plenty of fresh air but also with queues. As keen skiers ourselves, we’ve always wondered how much time we’ve spent skiing versus standing around waiting to do it. It’s an outdated system, and that’s why we launched Alto.Ski, to take away the hassle and ensure you can get straight to the slopes and ski as much or as little as you like!”
Once downloaded, Alto.Ski users will need to add their payment details and order their card, and then it’s ready to use. Cards can also be purchased from the resorts or from partner hotels. Within the app, customers can also monitor usage on theirs, and any family passes linked to the parent account, helping people budget and leaving no nasty surprises at the end of the holiday.
Those wanting added value can sign up for Alto.Ski+ which includes fully-comprehensive insurance for everyone on their account, a special black diamond card and added rewards, all for just €2.70 per person, per ski session.
