Altiset Building New Homes For Regional Workers In Victoria Mountain Resorts

Altiset is proud to be recognized by the Victorian Government and to receive grants from the Key Worker Accommodation Fund to enable construction of up to 1,500 KWA beds in the three major Victorian Alpine Resorts. Altiset looks forward to partnering with Regional Development Victoria, snow industry employers and our consultants and contractors to deliver this critical infrastructure.

Altiset Development Management Pty Ltd (A Grollo Group Company) (Altiset) is a regional property development company specializing in the Victorian Alpine Resorts and the surrounding High Country. Altiset and its parent, The Grollo Group have been actively involved in the Alpine Resorts for over sixty years.

KWA has always been a challenge in the Alpine Resorts. However, over recent years the shortage and price of KWA has become more acute due to increased visitation and the associated growth in the alpine resort workforces. Altiset has been working closely with resort business owners to find a way to increase the number of affordable beds for both guests and resort workers.

The High Country Tourism Industry and the Victorian Alpine Resorts identified the need to support businesses through the provision of purpose built housing for workers and their families. It is important for the growth of the Alpine Resorts to return commercial accommodation currently used by workers for use by visitors as originally intended.

Altiset’s Development Director, Martin Ansell said

“The grants from the Victorian Governments Regional Worker Accommodation Fund represents a significant development for the tourism sector. This will allow Altiset’s Key Worker Accommodation (KWA) initiatives to develop fit for purpose accommodation, servicing the Alpine Resorts of Falls Creek (at Bogong Village), Mt Hotham (at Mt Hotham Airport) and Mt Buller”

“Altiset has partnered with businesses that understood the lack of suitable key worker accommodation was limiting their growth and that of the alpine resorts. This understanding of the impacts of the shortage of key worker accommodation is what has ignited this project. For decades we have operated businesses that were constantly fighting a losing battle to find the capital required to overcome the shortage of affordable, fit for purpose KWA in or near the Alpine Resorts.”

“Altiset has a proven development track record and will provide essential and skilled tourism and hospitality workers and their families with affordable, fit for purpose accommodation, close to their work.”

“Regional hospitality and tourism businesses will benefit year-round by attracting and retaining essential and skilled staff, who in turn sustain regional business and communities.”

Altiset has developed a Key Worker Accommodation Development Plan that deliveries much needed housing in the Victorian High Country, particularly servicing the Alpine Resorts of Falls Creek (at Bogong Village), Mt Hotham (at Mt Hotham Airport) and at the Mt Buller Resort. Having now received government support for the project, Altiset is excited and looks forward to continuing to bring this project to fruition.
