Alterra Community Foundation Established To Assist Destination Community Members In Need

Alterra Mountain Company announces the establishment of the Alterra Mountain Company Community Foundation, a public charity created to provide financial support to the members of the North American communities in which Alterra Mountain Company operates.

Alterra Mountain Company founders from Henry Crown and Company and KSL Capital Partners, and Alterra Mountain Company CEO, Rusty Gregory, have donated an initial $2.6 million to fund grants. Ongoing financial support for the Community Foundation will come from public donations. Currently, the Community Foundation’s focus will be granting emergency relief and hardship assistance to those in need within the company’s North American mountain and city communities.

The
Community Foundation is available to provide emergency relief and hardship assistance to those in need due to situations and unforeseen circumstances such as the COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters, crime, illness or death, and other emergency hardships. Individuals and companies in the U.S. and Canada may apply for grants. Applications are now being accepted at

“If this last year has taught us anything, it’s that the most important thing we can do as individuals and companies is help support those who help us,” said Rusty Gregory, CEO, Alterra Mountain Company. “Our employees, vendors, guests and neighbors create the very spirit of the mountains that draw visitors from all over the world. The Alterra Mountain Company Community Foundation was established to offer some support to those in need and help them thrive.”

A Grant Committee has been established to review grant applications and determine awards. The committee is made up of representative community members from each region where Alterra Mountain Company owns a resort, including the Denver metropolitan area where Alterra Mountain Company is headquartered.

Alterra Mountain Company’s family of destination communities are Steamboat and Winter Park in Colorado; Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, Mammoth Mountain, June Mountain and Big Bear Mountain Resort in California; Stratton and Sugarbush Resort in Vermont; Snowshoe in West Virginia; Tremblant in Quebec, Blue Mountain in Ontario; Crystal Mountain in Washington; Deer Valley Resort and Solitude Mountain Resort in Utah; and CMH Heli-Skiing & Summer Adventures and Alpine Aerotech in British Columbia.
