Alta Badia Says Experience The Area Like A True Local

Nine stories and nine experiences to live, together with a group of Ladins who share a deep passion for the land where they were born and raised. They will be the undisputed protagonists of the initiative Nos Ladins - We Ladins of summer 2022, which gives the many tourists who visit Alta Badia the chance to become, for a few hours, a real local.  Participants will discover people, places and ways of doing things that are an integral part of the history and culture of Alta Badia. Nobody is able to make these experiences more intense than those who live in these places.

This year too, there will be no lack of new characters, who will be able to arouse the curiosity of participants even more through the various activities on offer from June to September.

They say:

NEW: PHILOSOPHICAL WALK WITH MICHIL COSTA

Michil Costa, president of the Maratona dles Dolomites, as well as hotelier, will accompany the participants of Nos Ladins - We Ladins on 26 July and 10 August on an enlightening philosophical walk. What does it mean to be a tourist today? What is our relationship with nature? Are we just consumers or can we contemplate new concepts of hospitality based on responsibility, respect and sustainability? These and many other questions will be answered during a walk with Michil Costa, proponent of a new way of understanding hospitality.

NEW: OBSERVING NATURE THROUGH A CAMERA

On 22 June, 6 July, 6 and 28 September, together with Matteo, a young hiker and nature photographer, and Giorgio, an experienced local mountain guide, you will discover unusual and memorable scenery to capture with the camera lens. While Matteo will dispense advice on lenses, light and framing, Giorgio will bring participants in the right place at the right time. The itinerary will change for each meeting, ranging from a leisurely walk to admire the blossom on the Armentara meadows, to a more adrenaline-filled evening climb on the Gardenacia via ferrata. There will also be exciting dawn hikes in places that only those who were born here know.

THE FARMERS’ WORK

At one time, Alta Badia was ruled by the tough, challenging but fulfilling, work of the farmers. Over the years the way the land is farmed has changed. Many jobs that were done by hand are now performed with the support of modern equipment. On one hand farming has got simpler, but this doesn’t mean it’s any less fascinating. And this view is also shared by Ossi and Robert, two young farmers aged 26 and 29, who are passionate about the mountains and sport and who run the family farm along with their father. They will be the ones presenting this unforgettable experience and demonstrating farm life to tourists taking part in the event. Weather permitting, visitors will go into the fields to make hay or get on with the numerous jobs to be done in the stable. The dates are as follows: 13 July and 31 August.

TRANSHUMANCE, A CENTURY-OLD RITE

Anyone who takes part in this activity will have the opportunity to accompany Matteo, a young local farmer, along the last kilometres of the journey back down to the village with his livestock. A unique and rich experience which takes you back in time. Matteo is part of the group of young farmers and is an authentic protector of the values connected with the farming tradition that he works to preserve and continue with coherency and conviction. The experience starts at the meeting point in Saré, at the Capanna Alpina refuge, then it continues along the stream to San Cassiano, reaching La Villa and finally Badia. The event will take place on Sunday, September 18.

She will lead the participants to discover the Ladin language, teaching secrets, sounds, pronunciation and the funniest sayings. The participants will have to be careful, because at the end there will be an examination, this time in class.
