Alpkit Foundation – Over £500,000 To Grassroots Projects
Since 2015 Alpkit have been donating 1% of their sales to the Alpkit Foundation. It’s the independent charity that helps people Go Nice Places Do Good Things and the 2022 annual report is out now!
The Alpkit Foundation is Alpkit’s payback, their social dividend to protect places they love for everyone to enjoy. The Foundation awards small grants to grassroots projects to tackle issues such as: diversity and inclusion; participation; education; conservation; protection; health and wellbeing.
The annual report covers the annual return, some of the Foundation’s favourite stories from the past year, and the current board of trustees. Alpkit directors are outnumbered by staff and independent trustees on the board to encourage a balanced outlook on decision-making.
The Alpkit Foundation has broken through two particularly wonderful milestones in 2022. Since being set up in 2015 it has officially donated over £500,000 in awards to over 1800 projects. And they have just been accredited as a 1% For The Planet Non-Profit partner. Any 1% For The Planet member can choose to partner with the Alpkit Foundation!
In their most recent annual return, the Alpkit Foundation has nearly doubled the awards compared to the previous year. Grants have been awarded to an incredibly diverse range of projects, including: walking groups for the visually impaired; adventure days for young carers; and travel support for ethnic minority communities to access outdoor spaces.
The Alpkit Foundation has continued support of a few key partnerships. The Continuum Project is one – Alpkit’s answer to landfill. Others include awarding over £4000 to Mountain Rescue teams and £3000 to the Peak District National Park Authority fund.
“Now as we see many facing ongoing uncertainties, the importance of being able to access the outdoors continues to be as powerful as ever. It reinforces our commitment to give back and makes being in the outdoor industry so special and the positive impact our wild places can play in everyones lives. ” – Col Stocker, Alpkit Co-Founder and Alpkit Foundation Trustee
