Alpine Skiing: Hans Knaus Promotes Young Talent With A New Initiative In The Schladming-Dachstein Region

The former ÖSV star Hans Knauß would like to focus more on the promotion of young ski racers from his home region of Styria Schladming-Dachstein.

Together with the Schladming-Dachstein Region, the Schladming Tourist Office and the Schladming 4-Mountain Ski Area (Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen, Reiteralm), he founded the "Hans Knauß Alpin Pro Team", which initially supports seven athletes. With the help of this project support, the youngsters should be able to master their complex training and racing routine more easily in the future.

Knaus devoted his life to skiing from an early age - and he still burns for it today. In addition, the 47-year-old is characterized by a strong sense of home-boundness. "I grew up in skiing in the Schladming-Dachstein region and I am very proud to have grown up here. It is very important to me to give something back to both the sport and my home country. With this project, girls and boys from the cadre of the Landesskiverbands are to be given the best possible support on their way to the top", said Knauß at the kickoff with the young athletes in Schladming. 

A four-member committee, headed by Hans Knauß personally, decides on the inclusion of talent in the project. Young athletes resident in the Schladming-Dachstein region who are members of the Styrian ski squad and actively participate in FIS Alpine Skiing competitions are sponsored. Currently, the team includes three girls and four boys: Sarah Schrempf, Selina Stecher and Valentina Hartweger, as well as Lukas Gahr, Vincent Wieser, Fabian Bachler and Luis Tritscher.

First and foremost, the young athletes receive financial support, since at this stage, most of the parents have to cover all costs themselves. For example, trips to trainings and races, hotel accommodations or equipment. For the ski talents, it is also a special honor that they are supported and supported by their idol, among others.
