Alpine Canada Welcomes David Morrison To Board Of Directors
Alpine Canada welcomes David Morrison, principal, president and CEO of Eight Capital, to its board of directors, effective Jan. 1, 2019.
David, one of the founders of Eight Capital, brings a wealth of experience to the ACA board. he has built his career through decades of corporate, finance, and entrepreneurial achievements, with organizations such as CIBC and Gordon Capital Corporation, as well as Genuity Capital Markets, which he helped found. An avid member of Canada’s ski community, David was a member of the Alpine Ontario board of directors for five years, serving as its treasurer and co-chair. He lives in Toronto with his wife and two daughters.
“Alpine Canada is focused on supporting our athletes and the up-and-coming national team members in collaboration with our provincial partners. To do so, we must excel in how we operate as an organization and with our partners,” said Vania Grandi, president and CEO of Alpine Canada.
Alpine Canada’s chair of the board of directors, Martha Hall Findlay, added: “David shares our vision, and understands both the challenges Canadian national sport organizations are experiencing at this time, as well as the opportunities that exist to continue to deliver on our vision and focus. His entrepreneurial spirit and understanding of the sport of ski racing will be great additions to our board and to ACA’s success.”
In addition to the appointment of David Morrison, Alpine Canada thanks departing directors Shannon Sullivan and Robert Palter. Shannon, whose career has focused largely on corporate finance, served on the ACA board’s governance committee. Robert, a senior partner at McKinsey, served as chair of the finance and audit committee.
