AI Turbocharges Schladming-Dachstein Tourism
Communications consultant Robert Seeger called for more optimism and less fear of AI as part of a "business evening" at the Gröbming College of Agriculture and Food Economics.
- In the Schladming-Dachstein region, an exciting evening of lectures and discussions marked the conclusion of the “Darum Tourism Business Tour”
- The Schladming-Dachstein Tourism Association, in cooperation with the regional Chamber of Commerce and the Raiffeisenbank Schladming-Gröbming, invited business representatives from the region to a panel discussion and a personal exchange of ideas.
Focus on successful cooperation between tourism and cross-sector companies in the region
"Artificial intelligence will become a real boost in the near future, particularly in the areas of internationalization, marketing and recruiting - and in tourism too."
The evening marked the end of the two-day “Darum Tourism Business Tour”, during which seven companies in the region - from garden designers to knitwear and felted goods manufacturers, from Schladming to Aigen - were visited. “With this initiative, we want to show all businesses that they are an important part of the tourism system in the region and, conversely, demonstrate the importance of tourism for economic development in the region,” said TVB Managing Director Mathias Schattleitner. “A region is only strong if the entire economic cycle system in tourism works well together.”
Egon Hierzegger, WKO regional office chairman for Ennstal-Salzkammergut, emphasized: "Tourism is of great importance, especially for the Schladming-Dachstein region and its companies. It ensures a good starting position for many local companies and shows an incomparably high level of resilience. Investments in tourism companies also create considerable indirect added value for all sectors." Raiffeisen board member Herbert Kolb agreed: "Investments by businesses - including in tourism - are important for the future of the region; only together can we develop further."
“In times of AI, empathy and emotions will make the difference”
In the evening, keynote speaker Robert Seeger first pointed out that the result of working with artificial intelligence is only as good as the input: "ChatGPT and Co work according to the trivial formula: Shit in - Shit out. But if you feed the tools well - 'promptly' as the technical jargon goes - then AI makes the working day much easier - on the way to more free time and more freedom. Important: In times full of artificial intelligence with deepfakes and cheapfakes, empathy and emotions will make the difference. And 'Made by Mensch' will become the most valuable seal of quality for services and products - especially in tourism."
“Artificial intelligence is also changing guests’ holiday planning”
TVB Managing Director Schattleitner explained that artificial intelligence is already being used in various areas in the Schladming-Dachstein tourist region. "First and foremost, it serves to facilitate and simplify work processes. In the future, this will increase massively. AI will find its way into many areas of our lives - and the way in which potential guests plan and book their vacation will also change. It is important to adapt to the rapidly changing circumstances in order to make the most of them."
