Adidas Terrex Expands Performance Outerwear At Outdoor Retailer + Snow Show 2018
Building upon its successful launch of footwear and apparel made from recycled ocean plastic, adidas Outdoor, the athletic brand in the outdoors, today debuted an expanded Parley for the Oceans apparel line with performance outerwear for men and women. In addition, the brand will introduce next generation design and innovation with variations on traditional baffles for increased warmth and protection and pair unlikely textiles and stylings for hybrid looks. The line will be on display at Outdoor Retailer Snow Show 2018, January 25-28, in Denver, Colorado, booth #42069-UL.
“The expansion to performance outerwear with Parley for the Oceans is a natural progression,” said Greg Thomsen, managing director, adidas Outdoor. “We have seen global success with our apparel that launched last spring not only because of the sustainability story, but also, the fashion forward design, incredible hand feel, and quick drying, water wicking capabilities. This initiative has been embraced by consumers and retailers alike that are paying more attention to the supply chain. The Parley styles blend well with the rest of the collection, as the lines between fashion and function continue to blur. Consumers want apparel that not only functions, but looks great. The fall/winter 2018 line looks great on a winter hike or a five-city block trek. Innovation in design is key in being ahead of the trends, as well as solving fit, comfort, and performance demands. The modern, hybrid looks incorporating contrasting textiles or unique details are a nod to the fashion world, but all serve a functional purpose.”
Parley jackets and parkas feature recycled polyester fiber made from reclaimed ocean plastic and Climaproof®, the adidas’ proprietary waterproof breathable technology providing protection and comfort in wind, rain, or snow. Styles include the men and women’s Parley 3-Layer Jacket and Swift Parley 2-Layer; and the women’s only style, the Clima Parley Parka. Prices range from $139 – $299 and will be available in July of 2018 at retail and online.
adidas entered a partnership with Parley for the Oceans in 2015, an environmental organization and collaboration network that raises awareness for the beauty and fragility of the oceans, and implements comprehensive strategies to end ocean plastic pollution. Plastic Program, led by the Parley A.I.R. (Avoid, Intercept, Re-design) to end ocean plastic pollution.
adidas Outdoor fall/winter 2018 turns to urban fashion for design inspiration. Minimalist styling, matte fabrication, and fashion color ways make their appearance in much of the collection, while hybrid combinations provide greater function and fashion-forward silhouettes.
Hybrid offerings include the women’s Climawarm® Jacket, an urban inspired jacket priced at $189 with 600 fill power down, with water repellent DWR PFC-free finish and heat seal baffles and the women’s Hybrid Hoodie with baffled nylon front and sweater knit hood and body retailing for $149.
The men’s BSC Insulated Jacket and women’s BTS Jacket feature a unique baffle design for a greater warmth to weight ratio and the elimination of cold spots, featuring matte color offerings, and value price points starting at $99.
