Adelin Berther Becomes Responsible For Gender Balance In Sport At Swiss-Ski

As of July 1, sports scientist Adelin Berther has joined Swiss-Ski on a part-time basis as Head of Gender Balance Sport.

In the Swiss Ski Strategy 2024-2028, the chapter "Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)" states that Swiss Ski promotes gender balance at all levels and is thus a role model in society and in national and international snow sports. Gender balance is the focus topic of the DEI sub-strategy in the first two years.

Adelin Berther has specialized in the promotion of women in (competitive) sport from a sports science perspective and already works on a mandate basis for the Federal Office of Sport (BASPO) or the Davos Sports High School in this area. The Graubünden native once went to school at the Davos Sports High School as an active ski racer.

For decades, sports science research has largely focused on men, with only 6% of all studies devoted to women. The positive side of this imbalance is that there is enormous potential for development in women-specific training science, which Swiss-Ski intends to make greater use of in the future.

"There is more and more knowledge available," says Adelin Berther. This knowledge should primarily benefit the athletes and also be made available to the coaches and other support staff. Adelin Berther brings the experience and expertise to bundle this knowledge and make it available to the Swiss Ski teams in the various sports in order to improve performance in training and competition.

After Swiss Olympic launched a project«Women and elite sport»Swiss-Ski is the first professional association to have its own project manager in charge of this topic area.
