A Cumbrian Ski Story - Short Film Release

Cumbrian filmmaker and former ski instructor, Cameron Hall has released a new film about Carlisle Snowsports Club and their dry ski slope facility in the border city – which is entering its 50th year this winter.
The centre is operated by ski instructor Eric Barlow, age 62, who is Cumbrian born and bred.
He started skiing on the dry ski slope in 1972, the year it was founded (and even helped lay down the original matting), after his father introduced him to the sport a few years earlier when Eric was 10.
50 years on, today Eric runs the dry ski slope virtually single handily - from taking bookings to delivering lessons and maintenance to marketing. In Eric's own words he 'writes the theme tune, sings the theme tune.'
A nonprofit organisation - the facility has experienced numerous floods over recent years, with the climate crisis threatening the survival of the centre.
