57th Rope Race In Hochfugen A Complete Success
On Easter Monday, 71 rope teams started the historic rope race at the end of the winter season in the Hochfügen ski area in glorious glorious weather. On the 8er Alm, numerous spectators celebrated the finish of the rope teams of the various racing classes and said goodbye to the winter season with live music.
The traditional rope race has been in Hochfügen for almost 60 years. After the Covid-related break, the organizers, WSV Fügen, and Helmuth Grünbacher, Managing Director of the Hochfügen ski area, were happy to end the winter with the popular event: "It was exciting races with a great atmosphere. The tradition of the rope race is alive and everyone - the participants and the spectators - experienced a great event at the end of the season!"
Among the 71 rope teams counted, each consisting of three starters, there were a total of 29 child trios: Among the youngest – the three riders together were not allowed to be older than 24 years – Elias Gruber, Daniel and David Steinlechner (WSV Buch) won with one Total time of 1:05.83. In the class up to 33 years together, Marco Eder, Joey and Amy Dreier from WSV Wiesing won the trophy in 57.68 seconds. In the oldest children's class (up to 42 years) the victory went to the Neustifter Gang (Hannah Fedrizzi, Emily Recheis and Lea Tasser) with a time of 56.02. Sabrina Brugger, Christoph Nachtstatt and Hansjörg Spittaler won the adult "mixed racing class". With a time of 47,
In the fun class, the so-called "Flotten 3er", the total time was not decisive - the rope team that came closest to the average time won here: The slope team of the Hochfügen ski area took second place with their rope team . They were only beaten by an old acquaintance in the region. The chairman of the TVB Erste Ferienregion Fügen Kaltenbach, Ernst Erlebach, won together with Nicola Kupfner and Angela Wechselberger and the rope team called "Team Gogola" missed the average time (1:22.19) by only 58 hundredths of a second.
After the end of the race, the winner's trophies were distributed on the sun terrace of the 8er Alm and the winter was said goodbye in a great atmosphere at a U1 musicians' afternoon with groups such as Die Mayrhofer or Gerlosbluat. Hochfügen Managing Director Grünbacher draws a positive balance of the 57th rope race: "All in all, it was a very successful afternoon and a really cool race with well-deserved winners and, above all, no injuries. We in the Hochfügen ski area are already looking forward to the next winter season and to it , to celebrate the tradition of the rope race for the 58th time," he explains.
