45th London Ski Show Becomes Telegraph’s Alpine Festival
This year the London Ski Show will celebrate its 45th Anniversary, returning to Battersea Park 25th – 28th October 2018. With even more attractions and entertainment, this years’ event has truly evolved from a show into a “Festival” for all ages to celebrate the winter season ahead and in its latest incarnation is now the Telegraph Ski & Snowboard Festival.
What first began in 1973 with only a handful of exhibitors and some expert talks, has since grown into a spectacular Alpine Festival filled with après themed street food and bar areas, live music and entertainment, all the latest apparel and technical equipment and the world’s best ski resorts.
The Telegraph team are excited to launch new attractions including dog sledding while favourites such as the ice rink, the ‘Mount Battersea’ slope and the street food market will be given a refresh for an overall elevated experience.
“We are incredibly excited about what the 2018 event has to offer this year! It is filled to the brim with new and inspiring content that should appeal to everyone from our avid skiers, after-dark festival goes and right through to those just starting out and perfectly complements the re-brand of the event to a festival!” says Samantha Pearce, Head of Marketing for the event.
Taking place over half-term, visitors can expect plenty of games and activities for kids including an Arts & Crafts Zone, Face Painting, and a line-up of children’s entertainers. The only one of it’s kind in the UK and all new for 2018, the Snow+Rock Climbing Wall brings fun for all the family, experienced climbers or first-timers!
New for 2018 the Festival will be hosting London’s largest indoor ski centre, Chel-Ski Slope, where visitors will have the opportunity to brush up on their existing skills or take their first steps into the fun-fuelled world of skiing or snowboarding! In the heart of the Mountain Village, a vintage Ferris-Wheel will provide the best aerial views of the action on Mount Battersea where the British Ski & Snowboard Team will be soaring into the air, demonstrating tricks performed at the recent Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.
An exceptional comedy line-up and the premium dining area in ‘The Lodge’ will provide an opportunity to unwind after a few hours spent shopping for all of the latest ski and snow gear. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or out of your depth, you can visit the Travel Genius Bar where one of the Telegraph Experts will help you plan your ideal Winter holiday with one of the many resorts from Whistler to Val D’isere.
