40 Applications Received For Vitalpin Advancement Awards From Germany, Austria, Switzerland And South Tyrol
The submission deadline for the promotional prizes advertised by Vitalpin for sustainable projects that help reduce greenhouse gases in the Alpine region has ended. Almost 40 applications from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and South Tyrol have been received. An international jury, chaired by the former EU Commissioner Dr. Franz Fischler, will now decide on the award of the prizes on the basis of an evaluation catalog. The winners will be announced at the end of September.
The Vitalpin KlimaInvestment initiative, which is supported by the climate protection expert ClimatePartner, collects funds through voluntary premium payments from companies. This means that in the first year of the regional sponsorship award, 65,000 euros can flow into projects that sustainably save greenhouse gases, make our living space more liveable and do their part to achieve the climate goals. In detail, Vitalpin supports solutions from the areas of sustainable mobility, energy efficiency, investment in and use of renewable energies, measures for carbon sequestration, measures to promote biodiversity and initiatives for the circular economy. A total of 39 applications from four countries and a wide variety of industries were submitted.
Theresa Haid, managing director of Vitalpin, is pleased about the great interest already in the first year: “We are pleased with the considerable number of applications and shows that the alpine economy and above all the local tourism industry is well aware of the importance of sustainability and climate protection. The range of projects includes all defined subject areas and it is nice to see that the educational and awareness-raising aspect has also been taken into account in various submissions and that it will hopefully also succeed in setting an example for corporate sustainability in the Alpine region with the help of the winning projects. "
The jury chairman and former EU commissioner Dr. Franz Fischler adds: “In addition to well-known companies, there are also very small companies among the applicants. This is encouraging, because corporate environmental protection must be a fixed part of every entrepreneurship in the future, regardless of size. With this initiative, Vitalpin offers showcase projects a stage, brings them to the curtain and hopefully encourages many more to do business in harmony with alpine nature. "
