35th Kaunertal Opening October 9-11, 2020
With the slogan "back to freedom - back on snow", the Snowpark Kaunertal will be opened for the 35th time with the renowned Kaunertal Opening. Given the signs of this challenging year, the focus is more than ever on the mountain. The wide areas and slopes, as well as the more than 2 km long Snowpark Kaunertal aka #naturerun, offer optimal conditions to safely enjoy the first days in the snow.

At the KTO, tradition meets innovation. The European snowboard and freeski scene has been here for 35 years at the beginning of October to shred together, measure their skills, test the latest equipment and celebrate the start of a new season! With the over 2 km long #naturerun, the Snowpark Kaunertal is one of the longest park runs in the world.
Ticket to ride” with mask, distance and personal responsibility
The Snowpark Kaunertal is already promoting compliance with a few simple measures on its website. The "face mask" has always been a trendy fashion accessory in the scene. In addition, of course, a corresponding distance and the associated personal responsibility is invoked. Then nothing stands in the way of an opening on the mountain and in the open air. We reserve the right to make changes, of course.
Free testival on an extended area and new accreditation system in advance
With up to 40 brands from the most renowned exhibitors in the scene, the new and hottest material will again be available for testing this year. The necessary distance is created by an expanded area. In order to straighten out the accreditation situation as much as possible, an online accreditation form will be available. This reduces direct contact at the accreditation body to a minimum. Focus sessions on the mountain
In addition to the first turns in the snow, the "KTO" is known for the hot spot after the summer break. The focus is on the numerous sessions at which the riders measure themselves on a sporty but friendly level. As always, there is plenty of prize money and prizes to be won here. In addition to the opening session of the world-famous SANE CREW! presented by Method Mag, the unique Desperados Heavy Metal Session , Girls Sessions and a "Hangover Session" on Sunday will be offered again this year . Also the unique in Kaunertal: a skate ramp at over 2000hm, pump track and many more side events.
New: Art Gallery in the valley
A comparable party format à la Club Circle or Street Party is unfortunately falling victim to the strict Covid-19 measures this year. Let's hope that the “Cult Opening Party” can be implemented again in 2021.
As a special attraction, this year the valley is dedicated to art and culture related to the snowboard and freeski scene. The ART GALLERY with protagonists Theo Acworth (Method Mag) and Felix Pirker , which can be visited individually , will be installed in the Quellalpin Saal during the opening. Some selected impressions from 35 years of KTO and 40 years of Kaunertal Glacier are also shown. In addition, the world premiere of the book "BOARDS, a brief history of the Snowbaord" written by Peter Radacher (Snowboardmuseum.com) will be available for the first time and invite you to browse .
