FIS Opens Bid Process For 2030 And 2031 World Championships

The bidding process for the 2030 and 2031 FIS World Championships is now open. FIS invites National Ski and Snowboard Associations (NSAs) to submit their applications to host these events, continuing the legacy of excellence in global snow sports.

Events open for bidding

The FIS Council will elect the hosts for the following events during the 2026 FIS Congress in the Serbian capital Belgrade:

  • FIS Ski Flying World Championships 2030
  • FIS Para World Championships 2031
  • FIS Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski World Championships 2031
  • FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2031

The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2031 were awarded to Val Gardena, Italy, during the 2024 FIS Congress in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Bidding timeline

The bidding process will follow this timeline:

  • Now – 30 April 2025: Informal dialogue with interested candidates. FIS offers support and guidance to help shape initial project concepts.
  • 1 May 2025: Deadline for submitting official application, along with the registration fee and training days guarantee. Candidates must use the Template Application Letter.
  • 2 May 2025 – 28 February 2026: Project development and evaluation phase, including feedback sessions and documentation reviews.
  • 1 March 2026: Deadline for final bid dossier submission.
  • 10–11 June 2026: Official appointment of hosts.

  • FIS encourages flexible hosting models to promote inclusivity, such as:
  • Integration with able-bodied FIS World Championships.
  • Unified hosting of all Para disciplines (Para Alpine, Para Snowboard, and Para Cross-Country) at a single location.
  • Discipline-specific hosting with different organizers for each discipline.
  • FIS Snowboard, Freestyle, and Freeski World Championships
  • FIS encourages hosting these disciplines as a unified event to maximize global impact. However, innovative proposals to host individual event groups separately will be considered.
