Ascendum Baumaschinen Gives Concentrated Power On The Kitzsteinhorn
Since mid-2024, two new machines have been in use on the Kitzsteinhorn: a Volvo L110H wheel loader and a Volvo EC300EL crawler excavator support the operation of Gletscherbahnen Kaprun AG in the high alpine environment at 3,029 meters. The two new additions not only ensure greater efficiency, but also lower consumption in the demanding areas of operation.
MODERN MACHINES IN CHALLENGING APPLICATIONS
The Volvo EC300EL crawler excavator is used in the warm season for greening, recultivation and slope corrections. In winter it plays a central role in transporting snow from the snow depots. In order to meet the challenges of the rocky terrain, the machine is equipped with continuous derailment protection. For the cold temperatures at high altitudes, an engine heater has been integrated, which ensures reliable operation even in sub-zero temperatures. The EC300EL covers the diverse application requirements with its hydraulic preparation for hammer, shears and slope bucket.
FLEXIBLE USE OF THE VOLVO L110H
The Volvo L110H wheel loader is an indispensable machine in the field of infrastructure maintenance. In addition to snow clearing and handling activities, where snow and a wide variety of materials are loaded and transported, it is also used for lifting work and waste management. The wheel loader is equipped with wide tires specifically for the steep terrain on the Kitzsteinhorn, which ensures maximum stability. In addition, it is equipped with cover plates on the rear and front frames and an LED power package, which makes it ideally suited for the demanding alpine conditions. In the summer months, the L110H also feeds a crusher. The materials obtained from this are used to build and stabilize road foundations and base layers.
Both machines on the Kitzsteinhorn are operated with HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), which reduces CO₂ emissions – an important contribution to environmentally friendly operation in the sensitive, high alpine environment.
