Schmittenhohebahn Improves Beginner Area At AreitXpress Valley Station
The Schmittenhöhebahn in Zell am See is pleased to have an optimized beginners area at the areitXpress valley station. By relocating the route of the conveyor belt "Schmidolin's magic carpet", a completely new possibility of using the existing terrain as a piste area arose and now offers ideal conditions for everyone who wants to dare to take their first turns in the snow.
New possibilities with the conveyor belt "Schmidolin's magic carpet"
"We are delighted to be able to offer our guests an ideal beginners' area by redesigning the area. The changed orientation of the conveyor belt means that the 10,000 m² of slopes can be used more effectively. Thanks to the optimal weather conditions at the start of the winter season and persistent cold temperatures in the valley, our grooming team has created perfect slopes for beginners and especially children that are second to none," says Ingo Dürlinger, Head of the Cable Cars and Slopes Group. "The centerpiece is the 120-meter-long covered conveyor belt and a modern infrastructure with a new lift building including children's toilets and children's washbasins directly at the valley station. The two parallel slopes to the left and right of the conveyor belt offer enough space for first attempts in the snow." With up to 4,000 lifts per day, the Schmittenhöhe cable car feels confirmed - the beginners' area is very well received by guests.
Positive response from the ski schools
"The newly created beginners' area is perfect for the first attempts on skis and offers optimal terrain to prepare the students for the next step, the trip up the mountain and the Glocknerwiese. In the main season, the five local ski schools look after up to 250 beginners on the Schüttwiese," reports Franz Oberlader from the Zell am See ski school. For the ski schools, a modern infrastructure and an ideal beginners' slope are crucial in order to be able to work efficiently and to teach beginners the basics of technique and the joy of skiing.
Skiing for all ages
"With the improved beginners' area, we want to get even more people interested in winter sports," says Dr. Erich Egger (CEO of Schmittenhöhebahn AG). In combination with offers such as the JuniorXplore Card, the Super Saturday ticket for only €15 for those born in 2006 and later, or the FamilyCard, which gives families the opportunity to share a ski pass, the Schmittenhöhebahn underlines its aim of making skiing accessible to everyone. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced skier - everyone will find their own personal winter pleasure on the Schmittenhöhe. Thanks also go to the landowners, whose approval made this implementation possible.
