New 5* Falkensteiner Hotel Saalbach-Hinterglemm Opening Winter 2026
Austria’s best-known premium tourism brand is coming to Saalbach-Hinterglemm. From 2026, just in time for the start of the winter season, the doors will open to guests at the 5*Falkensteiner Hotel Saalbach-Hinterglemm.
The renowned tourism group will take over operations of the former Alpine Palace hotel, which will close in 2025 for extensive redesign before reopening just in time for the 2026/2027 winter season.
The agreement marks a first for the FMTG group and a milestone in FMTG’s expansion strategy as the first opening in Salzburg.
Saalbach-Hinterglemm is the home of the Ski World Cup and one of the most attractive ski destinations in the entire Alpine region. The Falkensteiner property is located directly at the Reiterkogelbahn ski lift offering ski-in/ski-out accessibility to guests.
Under the new operator agreement, funded by Raiffeisenverband Salzburg, the hotel will welcome guests with a year-round offering tailored for families, sports enthusiasts, and wellness. An innovative edutainment concept and exclusive entertainment for young guests aims to notably attract families looking for premium holiday experiences.
Renowned Viennese architecture firm BWM Architecture & Design has been engaged to oversee the hotel’s extensive redesign. The design concept blends traditional Alpine elements with contemporary luxury, incorporating natural materials and an innovative lighting concept.
The €40 million renovation will also include a modernised spa area of over 2,000 m² with outdoor areas and pools, exquisite dining options and 127 completely redesigned rooms and suites.
