Hoyer: Winterberg Relies On Sustainable Fuel
Hoyer supplies Winterberg with HVO 100, a sustainable fuel that is becoming increasingly important in the region.
Despite icy temperatures of down to minus twelve degrees, work is carried out every day in Winterberg to prepare the ski area. Snow groomers equipped with powerful engines prepare the ski slopes to provide winter sports enthusiasts with optimal conditions. Powered by HVO 100 instead of diesel, these machines help reduce CO₂ emissions by more than 90 percent.
The decision to use HVO 100 in Winterberg is based on a pilot test that was launched last summer. A total of seven Straßen.NRW companies took part in a test in collaboration with Hoyer and came to the conclusion that refueling their vehicles does not cause any disruption to everyday operations compared to diesel. The snow groomers and other vehicles such as snow clearing vehicles and forestry machines run smoothly and efficiently with HVO 100.
Another advantage of the fuel is its winter resistance, which ensures that the machines function reliably even at temperatures of up to minus 25 degrees. This is particularly important for winter services, which are responsible for keeping 250 kilometers of road and numerous parking spaces in the Sauerland clear. The use of HVO 100 not only reduces CO₂ emissions, but also contributes to the long-term security of skiing operations in the region, which is heavily dependent on tourism.
A recently released film by Eurotransport TV highlights the use of the low-emission fuel in ski lift operations and city vehicles in the winter sports region.
