75 Years Of Hinterglemmer Bergbahnen: Anniversary Marks The Start Of The Ski World Championships Saalbach 2025

The Hinterglemmer Bergbahnen will celebrate their 75th anniversary in 2025 - an outstanding milestone that was duly celebrated in the Home of Snow in the run-up to the 2025 Saalbach World Ski Championships. The Home of Snow acts as a central meeting point for the international ski and winter sports community and thus provided the ideal setting for this special anniversary.

Before the official opening of the Alpine Ski World Championships in Saalbach, there was already a special occasion to celebrate in the Home of Snow the evening before with the 75th anniversary of the Hinterglemmer Bergbahnen. "Today, 75 years later, the Hinterglemmer Bergbahnen GmbH stands for innovation and quality - a success story that inspires winter sports enthusiasts from all over the world. We are proud to be a company that not only shapes tourism in the region, but also acts as a reliable year-round employer. Hikers, bikers and especially families also find their way to the Glemmtal in summer, where we, the Hinterglemmer Bergbahnen, provide unforgettable experiences with a varied range of offers," explains Hans Georg Bachmann, Managing Director of the Hinterglemmer Bergbahnen. Numerous guests accepted the invitation and were impressed by the ambience of the meeting place for the winter sports community.

On the History of the Hinterglemm Mountain Railways

The Hinterglemmer Bergbahnen were founded in 1950, when the foundation for today's success was laid with the construction of the first drag lift on the 12er Kogel. At that time, the lift's capacity was 150 people per hour - today it is around 40,000 per hour in the entire Hinterglemmer area. What was once a modest lift operation has become a significant economic driver for the region, which is actively shaping the future of winter sports with innovation and a sense of tradition.
