Snow Space Salzburg Receives 1st Salzburg State Award For Training Companies

Snow Space Salzburg Bergbahnen AG has been honored with the new seal of approval "Excellent Salzburg Training Company" – a state award presented for the first time this year. During the "Apprenticeship Gala" at the Salzburg Residence, a total of 37 companies from various industries received this special award for their outstanding apprentice training. Snow Space Salzburg is proud to be the only mountain railway currently represented.
The award, presented by the State of Salzburg and the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce, is subject to strict criteria. Among other things, training companies must have successfully trained apprentices for at least seven years, have structured training plans, and offer their apprentices special benefits and development opportunities beyond what is legally required.
"We are very proud of this award and see it as confirmation of our ongoing commitment to apprentice training," says Wolfgang Hettegger, CEO of Snow Space Salzburg Bergbahnen AG. "Our apprentices are the future of our company. This makes it all the more important to offer them a solid, diverse, and high-quality education right from the start."
The profession of cable car technician combines technology, nature, and responsibility – an exciting and future-proof career in one of Austria's most important tourism regions. The three-and-a-half-year apprenticeship at Snow Space Salzburg comprises approximately 80 percent practical work in the company and 20 percent classroom instruction. Apprentices also have the option of extending their apprenticeship and completing a second apprenticeship in electrical engineering upon request.
With 54 cable car systems, Snow Space Salzburg is one of Austria's largest cable car operators. Its apprentices benefit from a wide variety of cable car systems – including detachable gondolas and chairlifts, fixed-grip systems, and aerial tramways. In the company's own apprenticeship academy, the young talents receive individual support in addition to their vocational school and gain in-depth insights into various company departments – tailored to their personal strengths and interests. In addition to technical training, the job description also includes troubleshooting, slope maintenance, business management basics, and guest communication. The apprentices are supported by dedicated trainers at all three locations.
With this award, Snow Space Salzburg once again underscores its role as a reliable and future-oriented training company in the Alpine region. Our apprentices also impressed last winter season: They won the "YOUR JOB ON TOP" apprentice challenge launched by the Cable Car Association with a creative social media video.
