Big White Kids Centre Moves To The Village Centre Mall

Big White’s beloved Kids Centre, a cherished part of the mountain community since the 1995-1996 season, will be relocating its programming to an amazing new spot within the Village Centre Mall (VCM) for the 2024-2025 season.

This winter, kids ages 5 to 12 can look forward to a fantastic upgrade with modern amenities and a fresh, vibrant environment.

Key Benefits of the Relocation:

  • Optimal Space Utilization: One of the primary reasons for relocating the Kids Centre (KC) is to make better use of space. Previously, the KC was occupied only during specific times: morning hours (8:30 to 9:45), lunch, and early afternoon drop-offs. Most of the day, the children are out enjoying the snow. The new location within VCM allows the area to optimize this space for other businesses that can better serve clients throughout the day.
  • Modernized Facilities: The new KC will be a modernized facility, designed specifically with the needs and usage patterns of our programs in mind. With a fresh look, new upgraded kitchen, and new workflows, the KC will offer a more efficient and enjoyable experience for both children and staff. The design allows for centralized supervision, reducing the need for multiple staff members and enabling more interaction between professionals and children, fostering a positive and engaging environment.

New Features of the Kids Centre

  • Open and Inviting Space: The new KC boasts an overall openness that makes it easy for children and parents to see all activities at a glance. This transparency creates a sense of togetherness and relaxation, allowing kids to keep an eye on their siblings and friends while waiting for their turn on the snow.
  • Upgraded Kitchen: A new kitchen is specifically designed to cater to children's tastes, ensuring they have access to meals they love. The refreshed kitchen setup will also streamline meal preparation and distribution, making lunchtime more efficient and enjoyable.
  • Better Use of Space: The redesigned interior will make better use of available space, offering more indoor activities for children when they're not out enjoying the slopes. This means more fun and engaging options for kids, right within the KC.
  • Benefits for Guests with Kids: Parents and guests with children will find the new location extremely beneficial. The open design allows them to see all activities, making it easier to choose what they want to do next. The centralized layout helps children feel connected and secure, knowing their siblings and friends are close by.
  • Programs and Ski School: While the relocation brings many upgrades, the core programs provided through the Ski School will remain unchanged. For the 2024-2025 season,  programs for 3 to 4-year-olds, will continue in a small area of the current KC. The plan is to bring these programs, along with Tot Town Daycare, to the new location in the following season, expanding the footprint by absorbing the Rider’s space. This phased approach ensures a smooth transition without disrupting  current offerings.

The new KC location will be relocating to the spaces that were previously filled with The Rider and Mountainside, which are being moved to the old KC building in the Village Centre. Stay tuned for more updates as we prepare for the 2024-2025 winter season.
