SIGB Donates £5,000 To Scottish Schools Snowsport Association

The SIGB is proud to announce a £5,000 donation to the Scottish Schools Snowsport Association (SSSA), reinforcing its ongoing commitment to the development of grassroots snowsports in the UK. This contribution will directly support SSSA’s mission to provide young people across Scotland with increased access to skiing and snowboarding opportunities, encouraging more students to get involved in the exciting world of winter sports.

Steve Wells, Co-President of the SIGB, said: “We’re thrilled to be supporting the SSSA this winter. By investing in grassroots programs, we’re not only helping more young people get excited about snowsports from an early age, but we’re also helping to grow the snowsports community. The SSSA does a great job of creating an inclusive snowsports culture and we want to help them continue to do that.”

SSSA works tirelessly to organise inclusive snowsport tournaments and festivals that bring the snowsport community together and provide a welcoming atmosphere to students new to the sport. From slalom races to slopestyle competitions, the SSSA covers a broad range of disciplines, providing snowsport opportunities at a low cost to participants. The donation from the SIGB will go towards the continued provision of the SSSA’s busy race and competition schedule and subsidizing participation costs.

Iain Ramsay-Clapham, Snowsport Scotland Interim CEO, welcomed the donation: “This support from the Ski Industries of Great Britain is both very welcome and vital in supporting the Scottish Schools programme. The funding will specifically help cover the base costs of delivering schools events, enabling the association to keep prices affordable. It is really important that in the current economic climate we keep sport affordable to schools and we welcome all support of this nature."

This partnership represents a shared vision of promoting the growth of snowsports across the UK, ensuring that the next generation of snowsport enthusiasts has the tools and opportunities they need to thrive. The SSSA will have the poster here ---> on show at all events, encouraging skiers and snowboarders to shop locally if they are in need of new gear.

If your brand or business would like to get more involved, they're also looking for donations of accessories and branded carrier bags to provide goody bags to the winners at SSSA competitions. Just drop an email to amy@sigb.org.uk if you think you can help with any number of bags, beanies, buffs or similar.
