National Park Service Selects POWDR As New Concessioner For Zion National Park

POWDR, the leading Adventure Lifestyle Company, has been awarded the concession contract for Zion National Park by the National Park Service (NPS). The 10-year contract, set to begin in January 2025, will see Utah-based POWDR, through its subsidiary Destination Zion Lodge, LLC, manage and operate lodging, food and beverage, retail, and other visitor services within the park.

Known for its commitment to delivering memorable experiences in awesome places, POWDR plans to elevate the visitor experience at Zion while prioritizing sustainability and environmental stewardship. The company's proven track record in managing iconic destinations, including Snowbird ski resort and Woodward Park City in Utah, and Stovepipe Wells Village in Death Valley National Park, positions them well to enhance Zion's offerings.

"We are honored and excited to have been selected as the new concessioner for Zion National Park," said Justin Sibley, CEO of POWDR. "As a Utah-based company with deep roots in the outdoors, we understand the importance of preserving and protecting these incredible natural spaces while providing exceptional experiences for visitors."

POWDR's plans for Zion include upgrading lodging facilities, expanding sustainable food and beverage options, and introducing innovative educational programs that connect visitors with the park's unique geology, ecology, and cultural history. The company also aims to reduce the park's environmental footprint by implementing renewable energy solutions and waste reduction initiatives, in line with the company’s Play Forever initiative.

"Zion is a true national treasure, and we are committed to being responsible stewards of this remarkable landscape," said Sibley. "Through our collaborative partnership with the National Park Service we will work to enhance the visitor experience while minimizing our impact on the environment."

As part of the transition, POWDR will retain and build upon the expertise of existing concession staff, while also creating new employment opportunities for local communities. The company's seasonal staffing model, which allows employees to work at different POWDR properties throughout the year, will provide Utahns, and employees at other POWDR properties, with the opportunity to build year-round careers.

POWDR's selection as the new concessioner for Zion National Park marks a significant milestone for the company as it expands its presence in the national park system. In January 2024, POWDR assumed management of concessions and lodging at Death Valley National Park at Stovepipe, where it has already begun implementing sustainability initiatives and improving visitor services.
