Breckenridge Peak 9 Improvement Proposal Available For Public Comment
The White River National Forest seeks public comments on a proposal from Breckenridge Ski Resort for multiple improvements in their Peak 9 area.
Under the Breckenridge Peak 9 Projects 2024 proposal, Breckenridge Ski Resort would install a gondola, replace the existing double C-Chair lift with a high-speed six-person lift, create a new learning area for beginners on the Frontier trail, and remove the A-Chair lift. The new learning area would include two short conveyors, a ski and ride school warming hut with a restroom, and increased snowmaking coverage.
Breckenridge Ski Resort is proposing the changes to reduce congestion in the Peak 9 area, improve guest circulation on the mountain, provide better connectivity between Peak 8 and Peak 9, and improve the experience for beginners.
The proposal is within Breckenridge’s existing permitted area, with the majority on National Forest System lands. The proposal is consistent with Breckenridge Ski Resort’s 2022 Master Development Plan.
“Before we complete our environmental review of the proposal, we want to hear any comments or concerns from the public,” said Dillon District Ranger Adam Bianchi.
Comments will be most helpful if received by June 13, 2024.
