USA Nordic - Weekend Preview: Men’s & Women’s Nordic Combined – Trondheim World Cups

Men’s and Women’s Nordic Combined will wrap up the 2023/2024 FIS World Cup circuit this weekend in Trondheim, Norway. Athletes will compete in a mixed team World Cup event on Saturday, as well as an individual World Cup event on Sunday to close out the season. Men’s Nordic Combined Preview

Ben Loomis, Grant Andrews, Niklas Malacinski and Stephen Schumann will compete at the 2023/2024 Men’s Nordic Combined World Cup final in Trondheim, Norway. Last weekend, all four athletes competed at the World Cup events in Oslo, Norway. The first World Cup of the weekend came on Saturday, March 9th, as Men’s Nordic Combined athletes took the hill for the HS134/10km event. Loomis had the highest finish of the weekend, placing 21st overall, with Malaicnski being the final athlete to finish in the points, placing 29th overall. Andrews then finished in 44th, with Schumann coming in at 48th overall. Men’s Nordic Combined wrapped up competition on Sunday, March 10th, as they competed in another HS134/10km World Cup. Malacinski recorded the highest finish of the day, finishing in 31st overall, with Schumann placing 37th overall. Loomis then finished in 41st, with Andrews rounding things off in 47th, as the athletes ended their time in Oslo.

Women’s Nordic Combined Preview

Alexa Brabec and Annika Malacinski will represent the United States at the 2023/2024 Women’s Nordic Combined World Cup final in Trondheim, Norway. Brabec and Malacinski competed in the HS106/5km World Cup World Cup event in Oslo, Norway, last weekend, prior to traveling to Trondheim. Competition got underway on Thursday, March 7th, as athletes took the hill for the Ski Jumping portion of the HS106/5km event. Malacinski jumped to 16th overall, as she went 83.5 meters for 99.3 points. Brabec landed in 26th, as she put together a 74.5 meter jump for 79.8 points. The 5km race was then held on Saturday, March 9th. Malacinski finished 20th overall, as she completed the 5km in 15:59.9, with Brabec close behind in 23rd, as she finished the 5km in 15:12.6.
