Schladming Brass Band Festival Opens
The 25th edition of “Mid EUROPE” got off to a brilliant start yesterday evening (Tuesday, July 9) with a concert by the Bavarian Police Orchestra.
Styria's Governor Christopher Drexler, accompanied by representatives from tourism, politics and culture, opened the international music festival in the Schladming congress. The region will be all about brass music until Saturday, while around 1,500 musicians from all over the world will meet in the Styrian Ennstal. Music from the genres of classical, traditional Bohemian sounds, swing, rocky SKA sounds and pop bring Schladming-Dachstein to life at numerous concerts and events.
“In addition to the cultural gain, the musical event also represents a significant economic benefit for the region,” emphasized Mathias Schattleitner, Managing Director of the TVB Schladming-Dachstein, the organizer of Mid EUROPE. “We see it as our duty to unite the diversity of our region - from sport to culture to regional traditions - and to make it tangible.
As part of Mid EUROPE, Schladming-Dachstein presents its cultural highlights. Music forms a common denominator, unites different nations and strengthens the sense of community - both in the region and between locals and guests.” Governor Drexler: “Here the green heart beats in time” Governor Christopher Drexler was enthusiastic about the atmosphere at the festival: “Mid EUROPE stands for brass music, folk culture and pure Styrian joie de vivre. It is simply a fantastic experience when musicians from all over the world come together in Styria and make the region sound. Here the green heart beats in time. I would like to thank the entire team for the perfect organisation, which puts the region around the Dachstein in an international spotlight.”
