Prevention Of Avalanche Risks, MND Consolidates Its Position
This winter, several French ski resorts have once again placed their trust in MND and its remote avalanche triggering solutions. New systems were installed in the ski areas of Tignes, La Plagne, Flaine, Chamonix, Valmeinier, Avoriaz, Megève and Val Thorens. In addition, new systems are emerging in Italy in the Aosta Valley, in Norway, in Andorra, but also in Switzerland in Verbier and Anzère and in the United States.
In the southern hemisphere, MND has been protecting the slopes in the Argentine ski resort of Catedral and the safety of mines in Chile since 2022, through the company Pucara, which exclusively distributes MND SAFETY devices locally. To mark this historic local partnership, MND teams also participated in a technical day in Santiago, Chile on winter risk management.
In the area of traffic infrastructure safety, major customers have entrusted MND with the implementation of new trigger solutions, such as: Examples include the Department of Pyrénées Atlantiques in France or the Departments of Transportation of California and Nevada in the United States, which have once again chosen Gazex™ and O'bellX™ solutions to secure their roads using the latest developments in redundant communication systems and the control via the Safety-Cs monitoring software.
By collaborating with industry experts, MND offers its customers innovative, more sustainable and efficient solutions that do not require the storage or handling of explosives and have an extremely low environmental impact. The MND SAFETY systems, protected by numerous patents, are manufactured and assembled in France, at the Sainte Hélène du Lac industrial site in Savoy. An innovation and production strategy “Made in France” that MND has been successfully implementing for years.
Gazex™ and Gazflex™ are fixed, remote-controlled avalanche triggering systems based on the explosion of a propane-oxygen gas mixture in an open metal pipe. In Colorado, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, the Department of Transportation (CDOT) controls more than half of the 522 avalanche paths along its road network with Gazex™ TAS. The two areas of Berthoud Pass on Highway US 40 and Loveland Pass on Highway US6 are particularly critical and strategic locations .
Daisy Bell™ is a mobile helicopter avalanche release system based on the explosion of a hydrogen-oxygen gas mixture inside an open cone. This gas system, controlled from a helicopter and therefore extremely mobile, allows the rapid treatment of numerous couloirs, depending on the risks identified.
O'BellX™ is a detachable, remote-controlled avalanche release system based on the explosion of a hydrogen-oxygen gas mixture in an open cone. This environmentally friendly, visually inconspicuous and completely removable system protects the environment and is particularly suitable for nature reserves and protected locations. In France, the Chamonix Valley is equipped with Daisy Bell™ MND SAFETY helicopter systems as well as ObellX™ products to secure the access road to the Mont Blanc Tunnel on the French side and the ski area.
