Mountain Planet Grenoble Reveals Its Program
The international trade fair for spatial planning in mountain regions, Mountain Planet, which will take place for the 50th time from April 16 to 18, 2024, unveils its program
Mountain Planet, the world's largest trade fair for innovation and spatial planning in mountain regions, will take place from April 16 to 18, 2024 at the ALPEXPO exhibition center in Grenoble. This meeting, which has established itself over the years as a global forum and an essential meeting place for business, exchange and trends for providers and industries in the mountain world, will also celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2024. At each edition, Mountain Planet brings together all the international actors of the mountain ecosystem (industrial companies, elected officials, local authorities, accommodation providers, ski resort operators, associations, farmers, professional mountain sociologists, etc.), i.e. 23,000 professionals, including 2,900 international visitors from 71 countries .
50 YEARS OUTLOOK INTO THE FUTURE OF THE MOUNTAINS
Changes and developments in economic and social models in the mountains, environmental issues, mobility, pasture management, big data, communication - for 50 years, Mountain Planet has been an unmissable international meeting point for all areas of the mountain world, with over 900 exhibitor brands on 50,000 m2 of exhibition space present the latest innovations and trends on the market.
INTERNATIONAL REPORT ON SNOW AND MOUNTAIN TOURISM
At the opening of the fair on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 10 a.m., international Swiss expert Laurent Vanat will present his International Report on Snow and Mountain Tourism 2024. Published annually in collaboration with Mountain Planet, this essential report collects and analyzes data from over 2,000 ski resorts in 68 countries. News, figures, investments, visitor numbers, trends, snowmaking – the report offers a detailed overview of the ski, snow and mountain industries and their development. It highlights the situation, development trends and potential of the ski and mountain market.
CONFERENCE PROGRAM
Numerous lectures and panel discussions on a wide range of topics take place every day. The first major lectures moderated by international speakers will focus on:
- CSR related to ski resorts in winter and summer
- Customer loyalty or the challenge of hypersatisfaction
- The new superpowers of data
MOUNTAIN PLANET AWARDS
The “Mountain Planet Awards” are back and honor joint projects between exhibitor brands and ski resort operators in winter sports resorts in France and abroad. The application process will begin soon and the documents can be requested from the organization on the trade fair website.
REPRESENTATIVES FROM ABROAD VISIT THE FAIR AND IN THE MOUNTAINS
They come from all over the world: USA, India, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Japan, China, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Africa, Poland... Each Mountain Planet is visited by about thirty representatives from abroad with ongoing investment projects. However, the representatives also strap on their skis and visit several French ski resorts. These visits are organized in collaboration with Cluster Montagne, the French association for spatial planning in the mountains. This year, the ski resorts of La Rosière and Les Arcs welcome over 250 decision-makers from home and abroad to explore the latest innovations used in the mountains.
FRENCH OLYMPIC BIDDING FOR 2030
The French Alps bid, supported by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur regions, has been selected by the International Olympic Committee for “targeted dialogue” with a view to hosting the 2030 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. With 238 winter sports and mountain resorts, 120,000 jobs every year and over 10 million tourists (26% from abroad), France is currently the largest ski resort in the world. The economic weight of French mountain tourism in winter is 10 billion euros per year and represents 15% of national tourism turnover. France also has one of the world's most important and best industries for spatial planning in mountain regions, with several corporations and numerous companies recognized around the world for their know-how in this field. A few months before the Paris Olympics and the announcement of the final decision in July 2024, the Mountain Planet will certainly mark a new stage for the French bid.
