Michel Vion Promoted To The Rank Of Officier De La Legion D’honneur

The French Republic has highlighted the world of French skiing in the new civilian promotion of the Légion d’Honneur on January 1, 2024. Already a Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur, Michel Vion, Secretary General of FIS, has been promoted to the rank of Officier!

The Savoyard is the only person from the sports movement to be featured in this list. A great recognition of Michel Vion's dedication and passion for snow sports.

A member of the French alpine ski team in the late 70s and throughout the 80s, he notably became the world champion in Alpine-Combined in Schladming in 1982. The Savoyard then held various positions within the French Ski and Snowboard Federation.

Initially the alpine technical director in 1992, he became the technical director in 1999 before a stint at Dynastar and Rossignol. He later became the president of the French Ski Federation in 2010, and after being re-elected in 2014 and 2018, he was appointed Secretary General of FIS in 2021.
